HILO BAY WAYFINDING & NAVIGATION FESTIVAL October 7-12, 2008
Tourists and residents alike will have an opportunity to learn about Hawaiian way-finding and navigation through programs designed to educate and inspire the next generation of navigators while providing provide visitors with a new understanding and appreciation of Hawaiian way-finding and the voyaging canoes.
Working with partners in the voyaging community, and under the guidance of 'Imiloa Navigator-in-Residence Kalepa Baybayan, the five-day festival celebrates Hawaiian way-finding skills and historic voyages of the navigators. Time: 9:00 - 4:00 daily at Imiloa Astronomy Center, Hilo.
