I hope we are never unwelcomed to visit...

We first visited Hawaii 17 yrs ago. Instantly we knew this was a special place with incredible people. Aloha was extended to us on this visit and for the several that followed. We come home to the Mainland with that spirit in our souls. We teach these values to our children and talk openly about the injustice.
Of course we grew to know the horrible history and the devastation caused by the US government that was foisted on the Natives. So what are your alternatives? A separate nation? Compromise? I fear the negative results if everything falls apart.
Most Mainlanders have no clue about the history and the current ideas to undue the illegal takeover and may overreact to changes out of ignorance. There isn't much media coverage on this matter here.
I hope and pray that Hawaiians will not loose their spirit over this issue. Please do not let frustration and anger turn into hatred. Those of us who are educated and have an open mind want what is best for you. On our first visit we expected the usual tourist experience, the hoaky drummed up fake culture, etc. But I say again that we found true Aloha. And that is what we look forward again to our next trip this year.
