it is america, get over it

Your argument is so shallow it is almost funny.
Who then gets Hawaii? Tahiti? The Marquesas?
Who will be your government?...... You uneducated fools? If it wasn't for the American government you would still be slitting each others throats and driving each other over cliffs in battle.
What about all the poor souls that were killed by Kamehameha? Through killing and trickery he wiped out thousands. Do you think they wanted to be conquered? Would you then restore their "sovereignty"? Did we kill anybody or is that just a detail you like to leave out?
I would love to see us leave so you would revert to the status of any other third world country that begs at the plate of American aid.
The problem with you is that you are like any other group that is so lost in their idealism that no rational argument will be listened to.Good luck

Hawaii wasn't our to take
by: Anonymous

That's not the point, interference in indiginous peoples have been white men's fare for centuries. It is not us to tell them how to live. We did it to the indians here in America and brought death and disease as we did in Hawaii. Get a clue.

it is America, land of the free, act like it
by: mainland guy

Like it or not the Hawaiian government was unjustly overthrown. Making comments like ?it is america, get over it? is wrong and only makes the people that live there more pissed off.
America sure can make an ass of itself at times. It would be nice if Hawai'i could stay part of the union, but if they want out, let them.

A Comic Relief; just what I needed!
by: Tane

I couldn't contain myself and burst out laughing at this gibberish this person expounds and grasps at straws. It is quite clear that this person doesn't know Hawaiian history nor cannot introduce a clear argument other than parrot other ultracrepidarian critics. I contend that it is this person that is lost in his/her idealism and irrational debate.
We don't need luck but just present the facts. If this person can induce his/her country to produce a lawful treaty of annexation maybe I'll listen to the rantings. Let me steer this person to the overt actions of the U.S. that culminated in 1893 when the main breach of the laws of nations and treaties between our countries were blatantly violated. It is at this point that the U.S. invaded and occupied the Hawaiian Kingdom. It's the U.S. who desparately needs Hawai'i and not the other way around.. Thanks to the comedian, I had a good laugh.
