US out of Hawaii? Along with power, water, education, and Welfare

by Todd
(Oahu)

I am so tired of hearing US out really lets take a look back to the not so distant past...If the US was not in Hawaii do you think the Japanese in WWII would have honored the peace treaty? NO obviously if the US had not been here who knows how the war would have turned out. I assure you the Japanese were not fond of indigenous people. So instead of the freedoms and luxuries (yes I said luxuries, power, water, cable TV, public education, and safety) the native Hawaiians would be slaves or worse yet extinct. So before I hear some else complaining about the US, show me don't tell me live withOUT all of basics the US has brought in, more importantly get OFF public assistance (WELFARE)... be proud to be a part of the Greatest Country on Earth...I'm proud to be a Hawaiian American..

Why I posted this
by: David

As you may or may not know, I have the right to delete submissions on my site before they are even posted.

Even though I believe that Todd is basing his opinions from a uninformed position, I feel obligated to post his mana`o here, because that is what I said this section was for. I will not post obscenity or insults, so if there is anything offensive on this site, please let me know, and it will be removed.

The Hawaiian Kingdom was a highly evolved society, and I have no doubt that without the US we would have all the amenities of most forward nations.

The kingdom was so evolved that the King was able to take a journey to Europe to secure treaties with many countries there.

As far as Pearl Harbor goes, it is hard to say whether or not Japan would have even attacked here in such force if the US was not occupying Hawaii. If the US had not overthrown the Kingdom, treaties with all kinds of countries would have been intact, and the US and Hawaii would probably still be allies.

As far as being the greatest country on the planet, it is not reflected in the eyes of the youth. Most are angry or listless. That does not speak well for America. Hawaii is only as special as it is, because we still have Ohana values over here. If you grew up here, try go live in Chicago where I grew up, people avoid eye contact, they look at you funny if you talk to them, and the land is poisoned. Or try live in Kansas where the ground water is so polluted from petroleum and agricultural products you can't even think of drinking it.

True a lot of other countries have to struggle to survive, but the US uses the ceded lands over here, and makes way more off them then they give back. Educate yourself. The writing is on the wall. You don't want your kids growing up in a concrete jungle. Our Aina is crying out for us to protect it, and the government wants to develop more and more. Something is wrong with that picture. Without the Aina we are nothing. Malama Pono

Ohana?
by: Robert

hmmm... I don't know about throwing your kid into H-1 Traffic, or thieves constantly breaking into waterfront homes an "Ohana ideal"

Don't play the idea that Hawaii is a special place because of its isolation. There will always be darkness in the human heart, no matter where.

Get Real!
by: Tane

It's amazing that there are so many people suffering from oneiratxia and synesthesia that it becomes tiresome discussing or debating the issues. It's best they do their homework and research before expounding on issues beyond their comprehension. The only nation to break its treaty with the Hawaiian Kingdom and not repair it Has been the United States of America. I guess Todd is ignorant of the Hawaiian history. The Kingdom of Hawaii was among the most modern and progressive nation in the world and among the richest per capita. Electricity was already introduced in Hawai'i; water was always available, public education was already established withni the Kingdom, farming and industry was already ongoing in the Kingdom, modernization/luxuries were constantly evolving in the Kingdom. In the Hawaiian Constitution, slavery was outlawed decades before the U.S. emancipation of its slaves. We went further by declaring any slave entering Hawaiian territory were immediately freed. It was U.S. white men that decimated the Hawaiian population. They intentionally spread small pox and other diseases to decimate the population as well as using arsenic and other poisons. It gets more perplexing when Todd brings up welfare when majority on welfare are U.S. Americans. We ARE proud to be a part of the Greatest country on earth....The Kingdom of Hawai'i! Of course, that's a matter of perception people around the world uses, eh? I'm proud to be a Hawaiian subject/national/citizen of the Kingdom of Hawai'i. Don't be jealous because I'm so beautiful as a Hawai'i national. LOL...
