Big Island beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world. Big Island restaurants are some of the most diverse, and extraordinary on the planet. And the Hotels and resorts are amazing. We have an abundance of income from the worlds desire to visit our islands. Underneath it all there is a little turmoil. The Hawaiian Islands were illegally overthrown by a mock government, supported by U.S. Marines, in 1893. It took 5 years for the United States to approve a resolution that made Hawaii a part of the United States. In 1993, a hundred years later, the Senate and House of Representatives made public law 103-150, a official apology to the Hawaiian people. President Clinton signed this document, and made it official. The United States acknowledged that Hawaii was illegally overthrown and taken by the United States. So here we are. We welcome the world. Deep inside though we long to be free.
