Shaka Soap: Hawaiian Soap, Balms, Lotions, and More

Have some fabulous entries for the February e-zine. (Happy Valentine's Day, BTW. ) I got to scope out a new Hawaii Island Based soap company, "Shaka Soap" out of Kamuela (Waimea). Superb Natural soaps at a fraction of the cost of most natural soap lines. Whimsical designs and themes, such as the "Hapuna Beach" soap (a natural clean scent, with a brown beach/blue ocean/white cloud swirl motif) Most of the fragrances used are Island Inspired, such as Sandalwood, Vanilla, Jasmine, and Coconut. Luscious non-gagging lip balms made with luxe ingredients, sugar scrubs, body balms, and skin-food lotions with a cream texture. Her line will be in the MTV music award's goodie bags...(gasp) so yes, everyone can use the fantastic products that the celebrities use, and it's made right here in Hawaii Nei. Perfect for the environment made will all natural saponified oils, essential oil scents, natural colorants, and an age-old folk remedy for skin-Goat's milk. And the best thing is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Just a little bit of this soap on your loofah goes a long way, and it leaves my skin with more of a glow than drugstore body washes.

Mutiara's - Big Island small business Highlights-For the ladies

This month I would like to give a shout out about Mutiara's, a ladies formal wear store in Kealakekua that has fabulous dresses in all sizes (From 00 to 4x) all for under $45.

Her most expensive dress is $45, folks. No kidding. The plus size dresses are incredibly pretty as well, with iridescent fabric to purple tulle/chiffon. I was wanting to wear the plus ones!

She also has beautiful shoes, in all sizes as well. I wear ladies' 12, I also found a size 14 dress sandal when I was there, perfect for those of us with large-sized feet.

Plenty of Pearl Jewelry options as well, and blingy crystal-crusted earrings. She has great options, a wide range of sizes...If you ever need a formal wear dress please make Mutiara's of Kealakekua your next stop. She is relying on word of mouth advertising as well, but I hope to change that. She's been here for about two years, and deserves more recognition. (Her dress selection beats out the Big Marts and Macy's)

She is open from 10-6ish most weekdays and is closed on Sunday. Her store is right next to Orchid Isle cafe on the Makai side Mamalahoa,81-6641 Mamalahoa Hwy (808) 323-3888

Any Lady can pull a formal look together for well under $65 at this store.
