FREE PERFORMANCES BY NA HOKU HANOHANO WINNER KU’UIPO KUMUKAHI AND THE BEN KAILI TRIO, DESIREE MOANA CRUZ, AND HUI OKINAWA KOBUDO TAIKO DRUMMERS
For over 50 years, historic Mo’oheau Bandstand has been the primary neighbor island site for the Democratic Rallies, and Monday, November 1st will see Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko Drummers heralding entertainers supporting the following candidates and officials who have confirmed their attendance:
U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye, U.S. Senator Akaka, Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, U.S. Representative Mazie Hirono, Lt. Governor candidate Brian Schatz, Senator Kokubun, State House representatives, County Council members, Board of Education and Office of Hawaiian Affairs candidates.
After the oli and pule by the Reverend Mr. Danny Akaka, Jr., Desiree Moana Cruz will sing the Star Spangled Banner, Ku’uipo Kumukahi and Ben Kaili will lead the crowd in Hawaii Pono’i. Dante Carpenter will emcee the event, and Mayor Billy Kenoi will introduce the candidates. Ku’uipo will lead the crowd in singing Hawaii Aloha to close the event.
Sign waving will precede the event on Kamehameha Avenue from 3:30 to 5:00pm, and free food will be served from 4:30-5:30 PM
The live webcast of the event is a first for the Grand Rally and will be available state and worldwide at www.livehawaiianlegends.com. Grand Rally information will be on www.hawaiicountydemocrats.org including a link to the live webcast.
