A silk painting class will be held on Friday, August 26th, from 1-4pm, in the Showcase Gallery in Kainaliu, Kona. This is an opportunity to express yourself with color and to have fun and create in this freestyle class that focuses on abstraction verses realism.

Participants will learn to prepare and stretch fabric on a frame, mix dyes, and paint their own 8” x 53” scarf using three colors of their choice, which will create many more colors on the silk. Students will also learn to use the wax tjanting tool on a China silk sampler piece to form resist lines, then paint their design.

The class is taught by Patti Pease Johnson, a silk artist selling in the islands for over a decade, and silk and pastel teacher at various venues around the island.
The cost is $70, and all materials are supplied. For more information or to register, please contact Showcase Gallery, 322-3203, before August 20th.
