Big Island News: Public Input sought on Keokea Beach Park restoration

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a public meeting to present conceptual plans for Keokea Beach Park's earthquake restoration and accessibility improvements, 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at the Kohala Intergenerational Center (the facility makai of Hisaoka Gym).

The department is seeking input from the public on the proposed modifications and improvements and soliciting individuals with historical knowledge of the area for their contribution to the Cultural Assessment being prepared for this project.

Following the discussion on Keokea, other topics will be discussed such as the status of the Ikuo Hisaoka Gymnasium Restoration Project, status of the Kamehameha Park Accessibility Improvements Project, repairs to the children's playground equipment at Kamehameha Park and other departmental projects in the district of North Kohala.

Contact James Komata, Park Planner at 961-8311 for any questions or information requests prior to the meeting.
