Hilo Orchid Society 57th Annual Show and Sale

The 57th Annual Hilo Orchid Society Show and Sale: Hawaiian Orchids - Past, Present and Future takes place August 7, 8 and 9, 2009.

Thousands of orchids in displays created by top notch growers and amateurs entice audiences in this three day orchid extravaganza at Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium.

Visitors can expect to see exotic species, beautifully grown specimen plants and the latest hybrids, many created by Big Island orchid breeders. Judging of plants will be conducted by certified American Orchid Society judges with dozens of trophies and ribbons. Information about orchids and their cultivation will be offered in free mini-classes conducted by experts. Instruction on flower arranging with orchids will also be provided. A sales area offers orchid and plant related products plus, of course, magnificent orchids for purchase, including some you won't find in your typical retail garden store or nursery. The show will be held at the Edith Kanaka'ole Stadium in Hilo at 350 Kalanikoa Street. A members and guest party will be held August 6, 6-9 p.m. Funds raised from the show help to support the annual Hilo Orchid Society Scholarship.
